What we keep, and why

Your email address and the name you choose, to run your account. Your repertoires, your practice, and the public games of chess accounts you link, so the site can do what you use it for. Your comments and requests, which are shown with your name. If you subscribe, the payment provider handles your card; we never see it. We count visits without cookies and without building a profile of anyone. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

We process this to provide the service you signed up for, and count visits because we have a legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read.

Who else handles it

Our hosting provider (in the EU), an email delivery service, a payment provider and a visit counter, each only for its own job. Where one is based outside the EU, the transfer is covered by the EU's standard contractual clauses.

How long

Until you delete your account. Technical logs are kept only for days.

Your rights

You can delete your account yourself, under Account, and everything tied to it goes at once. You can also email us for a copy of your data or a correction, to have its use restricted, or to object to how we handle it; we answer within a month. And you may complain to a data protection authority.
